I don't think you can really compare them with each other. The vinyl has to me a lot more personality behind it and a sense of nostalgia that the CD can't match. On the other hand the CD has the technological advantage.

You can't put your vinyl on the Computer. I have heard that vinyl has better quality, but I don't know why and how? Its also more expensive, but as mygga_med_stil said it is for nostalgic people.

But A "truer" sound does not mean "quality". I don't mean CD has a BETTER sound than vinyl, but compared quality-wise, CD has a sharper quality.

No it doesn't. You're way off base bro. Read up on it. Buy a good turntable and then get back to me. Cd's are more convenient that is about it. Most anyone that collects vinyl will tell you the exact same thing. Read up on it.

What difference does it make? Everyone's always downloading music on the internet to their ipods anyway

Vinyls all the way. If I had a lot of money, time, energy and space, I would get a vinyl collection. I only have a CD collection.

I prefer CD, and only buy vinyl if it's not available on CD. I only buy bootlegs and long lost and forgotten releases by quite unknown bands on vinyl.

Technically and performed in a perfect enviroment, vinyl has the better sound as it preserves infinity frequency levels. The CD format is a two-channel 16-bit PCM encoding at a 44.1 kHz sampling rate per channel. The sample rate is based on the need to reproduce the audible frequency range of 20 Hz - 20 kHz. Therefor all frequencies above 20 kHz is cut off.
If you ask your dog, pet-whale, pet-dolphin or pet-bat, they will prefer vinyl as they hear frequencies above the CD cut-off.

In comparison: For a dog, playing a mp3 file will the sound be like crumbling silver paper, as the frequencies cut off is at 16-17 kHz, and the bit rate is four times lower or more than on a CD.

Technically, vinyls have better sound quality alright. But there are drawbacks.
If not taken care of, vinyls easily aquires scratches on its surface resulting in problems such as locked grooving or skipping of a certain part of the song.
As the human ear is incapable of hearing frequencies above 20 khz and 20 hz, the digital format doesn't actually matter for the human ear..as long as you have a good sound system.

I seriously consider to buy me a new turntable. One of those you can plug directly into your laptop with a USB. It's prolly time to retire my more than 30 year old analogue turntable for good...

I only buy cds, because vinyls are too expensive and nothing to play them on.

I like vinyls cause of the nostalgic reasons. But haven't listen to enough vinyl to compare then since i don't have a player for it. Cds works good.
