also hes not bouncing around... hes married to jon schaffers sister... its just he left for family issues, since they are gonna be touring a ton more than he expected, and hes got 2 kids and a full time job as a cop.

Why would he keep his job as a cop??? I'm sure he would make a good living in Iced Earth... maybe I'm wrong

he actually became a cop after being in iced earth. its why he originally left, jon schaffer convinced him to come back. they had intended for only a few shows here and there.
but popularity of the band grew very quickly and now they are going to be doing large tours, to which matt barlow cannot give full attention to.
he didnt leave to be a dick or anything... him and jon schaffer are buddies.

and he sung for 5 out of 9 albums the band has made. 7 if u consider days of purgatory and tribute to the gods. which one is rerecording of older albums but with barlow on vocals and tribute is covers.
only 1 album i would say is not amazing and thats crucible of man...

i know im sounding like a super fanboi here... but barlow is honestly the best vocalist iced earth has had and will have.
i have met the man, hes extremely down to earth...

plus excluding crucible of man the last few are not barlow, thats tim owens.

the new singer of iced earth has been announced
Stu Block will be taking over vocal duties on upcoming albums and tours

hes actually a really good vocalist... this might turn out to be a very good and interesting decision

Iced Earth released a song thats free for download at their website.
Its a rerecording of the 16 minute epic Dante's Inferno
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUxRKUh9KTY
It features Stu Block on vocals
IMO it kills, very satisfied how Stu Block performed on the song.
its making me very anxious for the new album

Dante's Inferno happens to be my fave Iced Earth song...I don't want to hear the re-recorded version. No-one can touch the original version...not even Iced Earth itself...

pssh its my fave song too... but cmon hear it... its damn good
original is still better, but still worth a listen.

they rerecorded it for 2 reasons
as a gift to the fans so they can hear what stu blocks gonna be like
and so they can actually play the song live without having to bring a keyboardist on tour for just one song.
