PostSubject: Gardening Thread   Wed May 13, 2009 4:25 pm

Well, in talking to Mash and Vogg it seems I am not the only member that enjoys gardening. Here we can discuss anything about gardening, photos, tips, and get help with problems.

I grow a pretty large vegetable garden and I also grow flowers. My vegetables consist of:
Tomatoes- Roma, Cherry & Early Girl
Peppers- Green Bell & Hot Cherry
Zucchini
Spaghetti Squash
Cucumbers
Green Beans
Eggplant
Pumpkins
Watermelon
Strawberries
Basil
Parsley

I will take some pictures and post what my garden looks like now. And then post as the summer goes along.

Of course, but you have to wear a gas mask while outside not to be intoxicated by the shitty vapours. If you do that you're alright.

When I still lived on my parent's farm I maintained a rather large garden for a few years. I can't spend the time on it now that I live farther away, and in my small yard in the city there's not enough room for a garden. I put one cherry tomato plant at the end of my flower bed though.

I also planted about a quarter acre of strawberries in a small field on the farm about 4 years ago. I'll have to dig up some pictures of that.

So yeah, gardening rules.

I have a huge garden.

So far we have 12 rows of Potatoes, 2 onions, 1 row Cabbage, 1 row Eggplant, 2 cucumbers, 2 Squash, 2 Tomatoes, 2 peppers, 4 triple rows of green beans. That's what we have planted so far. We still have Watermelons, cantaloupes, and Pumpkins to plant. Plus 100 Strawberry Plants.

The rows are about 35 feet long so it's hardly a small garden.

We use Preen on the rows and it keeps the weeds out pretty well. Of course you have to wait for the seed plants to come up before using it on those rows, but the plants you can. If you put it on the garden a few times it takes care of them for the summer. We have no weeds in ours right now, and the little bit there was got weeded out and raked out of the garden. That and it helps to till down the rows that you can till down in. It's Aerates the soil, which helps the plants grow better. And it makes the garden look good too.

Yup!! I live on a farm that has 4 Chicken Houses and they used to spread the Chicken Litter on the fields and some in our garden and it grows stuff really good,. But due to it having a lot of Ammonia in it you can only use a little bit or it will burn up the garden. Stout Shit!!
