SWINE-FLU SYMPTOMS
How can you tell if you might have swine flu and should see a doctor? Here's a checklist of symptoms linked to the disease, which is suspected of killing more than 150 people in Mexico and sickening hundreds more around the globe:
Fever
Cough
Sore throat
Body aches
Headache
Chills
Fatigue
Some people have also reported diarrhea and vomiting.
The symptoms are similar to those experienced by people infected by other flu strains. In the past,
pneumonia and respiratory failure and deaths have been reported with swine-flu infection. Like seasonal flu, swine flu may cause chronic medical conditions to worsen. | |

| gah this shit is scary you guys, its an airborne disease which makes it bad. so please, everyone just be careful...what you eat, everything. if its airborne, that means if someone infected sneezes or coughs and touches anything, then another touches it, that person might get infected too.
BE CAREFUL |

| I think we are fairly safe in US/Canada. Treatment here is more effective than in Mexico, so if someone here does contract the swine flu, the chances of it being fatal are very slim. | |

| I understand this is a serious problem but seems people are taking it a little to seriously. |

| Yeah. I read somewhere that the US promises a swine flu vaccine by the fall. Uhhh I hope this gets contained and there will not be a need for it. |

| Present death count outside mexico is 1. This could be SARS all over again. Kills loads of people in Asia/Mexico, hits the west/richer countries, some people cough. A little.
The media have made a big deal over what may just be an infectious but mild flu, and while action is warranted I wouldn't panic, most of this is just them looking to sell stuff. Mexico even revised the death count down, they reckon it's closer 100 deaths, with about 3K cases. Which is is a 3-5% mortality rate, their and elsewhere it's about 0.3-0.5%. Flu kills, it does every year, 35000 Americans die of flu every year. The media just need something to report, the recession just goes on and on, Obama has been elected now, and is doing what he said with few surprises, they need something to tell us about so they can tell us what to think so we care and keep paying attention.
There's a fictional book that would have the answer. It'd say to be careful, that pork is fine as long as you cook it properly (and lets face it, badly cooked pork has worse than swine flu in, especially mexican pork) and then it'd refer you to it's cover, because there lies something no news channel will tell you, because you'd be less frantic and watch them less religeously. If you have a copy of the hitchhiker's guide... it'd tell you "don't panic". |

| Pretty much what Narthwastaken is getting at. The media won't be happy till half the world is fucked. Except for them of course.
It'll pass eventually, I mean how many 'near pandemics' have happened in the past 10 years? |

| I agree, the media are fear mongers. They love to feed fear to the masses and it must be stopped. |
