@kreltak - It's true that C.O.B is more power metal. ( though metal-archives says that they are both melo-death and power metal) They don't sound like a melo-death band to me. Sorry but I hate C.O.B

I know this is off topic... but why do people classify C.O.B. as power metal?????? They are NOT power metal... not even close.

Children Of Bodom are not even close to being Melodic Death Metal.

Just because a band has harsh vocals does not make them a Death Metal band by a longshot.

They are a Power Metal band with harsh vocals.

Maybe on their earlier albums such as Something Wild and Hatebreeder you will find some very slight Melodic Death influence. After that though they are a Power Metal all the way.

To even mention them in the same breath as Dark Tranquility, Insomnium, Kalmah and the rest is out right ridiculous.

To say they are one of the greatest Melo Death bands is very silly as well.

Well, I'm with Mash on this one guys. I don't think Bodom are power metal either. Their vocals and lyrical themes differentiate greatly from pretty much all power metal bands, which is what defines power metal, for me. I suppose the one thing they do have in common with power metal is the prominent use of keys in their songs..

To mention them in the same breath as bands such as Monowar, Stratovarius, Rhapsody and the rest is out right ridiculous as well.

Then again, I'm not a fan of either genre.. so I don't know why I'm getting involved haha

By putting them in the 'power metal' box you put them in the same category as bands like those, that's all I was saying. I'm not going to argue with you that power metal is a much broader sub genre than melo-death though, because I'm not a fan of either. It's off topic but I actually dislike the term 'melo-death' and I hate pretty much every power metal band I have ever heard haha

Name another power metal band that sounds anything like COB??? What elements of their music makes it power metal? The use of keys?? Well, melo-deth bands use keys too, as well as black metal bands.......
