Quote :
The Faceless is a progressive death metal band from Encino, California. They released their debut album, Akeldama in November 2006, and a follow-up, Planetary Duality, in November 2008.
The Faceless was formed in Los Angeles by guitarist Michael Keene and bassist Brandon Giffin in 2004. They released their debut album Akeldama in 2006 and toured extensively with bands such as Necrophagist, Decapitated, Nile, and The Black Dahlia Murder.[2] After touring, drummer Brett Batdorf left the band during the recording of Akeldama. The band went through several fill-in drummers before adding current drummer Lyle Cooper to their line-up. The Faceless released their second full-length album, Planetary Duality, in November 2008. The album debuted at number 119 on the Billboard 200.[3] In January 2009, the group announced a North American tour with Meshuggah and Cynic,[4] and in February 2009, another North American tour, with Cannibal Corpse, Neuraxis and Obscura.

I'm a bit late but I picked Planetary Duality and it's mindblowing, just seriously amazing. They sound like a mash up of Meshuggah, Cynic and Necrophahist with a sci-fi sort of feel. And forget any -core accusations, this album is just brutal tech-death. Check out this song, it's probably the most face melting on the album.

The first album Akeldama has got quite a few core sections but Planetary Duality has definately dropped all that.

I own Akeldama and I have to say regardless of the core-esque breakdowns and such, it's pretty awesome. Whenever I listen to it (which is quite rare) I do enjoy it.

I've heard a couple of tracks off Planetary Duality but I need to check the album out properly at some point..

Excellent album. When I saw them supporting for Atheist @ BB Kings in NYC, they played a few songs off Planetary Duality. I enjoyed it a lot!
