Savatage

Formed as Avatar (US) , then changed their name to Savatage in 1983.

Jon Oliva remained involved with Savatage for the period he was 'out' of the band by writing music and lyrics, playing keyboards and providing some vocals.

Hall Of The Mountain King and Sirens are must have's for any Metal head.

've got Hall Of the Mountain King, Handful Of Rain and the last one Poets And Madmen.
I think I will get the first three albums by them, as the progressive style they did from Gutter Ballet and later doesn't appeal much to me....

I love the first album. It totally rocks!

Up 1992. are great, later they suck's.

Oh man I love Savatage. Criss Oliva solos like nobody's business. I even like some of their later stuff (although really just a few select songs). Sirens, Hall of the Mountain King, Edge of Thorns all absolutely rule, hell even Gutter Ballet kicks ass.

Savatage are awesome band ! Love their Hall of the Mountain King and Gutter Ballet also the Streets - A Rock Opera is very interesting album if you didn't heared try it ! R.i.p. Chris Oliva ...

i'm not sure i agree with you.... for example, album ''Fight for the Rock'' (1986) wasn't so good, they moved to the more commercial sound, and ''Wake of Magellan'' (1998) is great album with beautiful melodies and poweful lyrics.

Sirens and hall of the mountain king is brilliant albums, edge of thorns was really good too. Just checked out poets and madmen , it was pretty good, not as good as their earlier material though.

And now i'm listening Gutter Ballet, sounds really good.
What about Power of the Night and Fight for the Rock?
I've been avoiding them because of some vad reviews on MA stupidly..xD

Damn...Gutter Ballet is rising from nowhere and have became my favorite Savatage album during the last week....what a brilliant opener Of Rage and War is....

What?! POTN is a bad album?! Stupid reviews , for me that such good album but not so strong as Sirens IMO. As, FFTR is the weakest album they were like out of their 'character' sounds you know what I mean

Yeah i know sometimes they mislead you. I'll check out power of the Night then.
