Anubis Gate

Progressive/Power Metal from Denmark. Formed in 2001 with the lineup of Torben Askholm (Vocals), Jesper M. Jensen (Guitar/Bass/Keyboards), Kim Olesen (Guitar/Keyboards), Henrik Fevre (Bass) and Morten Sorensen (Drums). With this lineup the band recorded two albums; Purification in 2004 and A Perfect Forever in 2005, starting out as more of a melodic power metal band (ala, Iced Earth) the band received little attention. In 2006 Askholm was replaced by Jacob Hansen (of Invocator fame) and the following year their third studio album 'Andromeda Unchained' was released.

The album took on more Progressive elements and utilized keys more (as well as Hansen's superior range), the album has been almost universally praised by critics and was on many "best of year" lists for 2007. In 2009 the band released their fourth album 'The Detached' which once again lifted the bar and proved that Anubis Gate weren't a one off fluke.


Can't get enough of this band lately, every release they just keep getting stronger. The Detached hasn't come out of my cd player since it came out...in fact it might just be my number one for 2009 (big call!). Recommended for any fans of Pagan's Mind, Communic, Symphony X etc.

Great Band!!!! But detached is only album that i have İ ll check their other albums.

Terrific band, I'm a massive fan. A Perfect Forever, Andromeda Unchained and The Detached are all essential progressive metal albums in my eyes.
