| I am writing an essay, and I'd be interested to hear what you think. Are any of you music teachers? Did you want to teach or was it a stop-gap until you could make it as a performer? Did you try to make it as a performer? What more does a musician need to be a good teacher? Thanks! ____________________ chevrolet silverado wheel hub bearingteambuilding | |

| Well yes, a good musician does make a good teacher, As far as I know, it takes years of experience, theory, and a good musical ear to be an accomplished music teacher | |

| you know i dont fully agree with that although it DOES actually take a good musician to teach music, not all musicians can teach their students properly, in a method that the student/whoever is learning can understand. a good teacher makes the person grasp the idea by putting it in a way that the student can understand it, no matter what level of understanding he/she might have. not all people can do that. then again, this is only an opinion |

| You need to be a good musician to be a good music teacher. Not all good musicians are good teachers. I'm a performer and a private music tutor, currently training to become a classroom teacher. It's not that I don't have the confidence to become a performer as a career, it's just that I've become so disillusioned with the music business that I don't want to. I'd rather something a bit more reliable with a more regular income. So I turned to teaching, which I did on the side anyway. This way I can still rehearse/record with my band and do gigs in the evenings. Teachers finish at half 3 in the afternoon. | |

| It's one thing to know your craft, and another to teach it effectively. My current sensei is a hell of a musician, with a degree in education. Since I've joined with him, I've made leaps and bounds. My previous teacher was just as good a musician, but a very poor educator. The two skills are largely separate. | |

| Haha, I wouldn't consider myself a bad musician by any means, but there's no way I'd be able to teach anyone anything, simply because I don't actually know any theory. I know the names of about 3 chords, but can play about 20, from learning on my own, and I have no idea what any of them are called. | |
