Discuss diet, workout, exercise, health issues and other things.

I have used low carb diets several times...They do work awesome...Weight loss is very quick in the beginning...The only problem I find is that as soon as you stop having a low carb diet the weight comes back very fast and usually more than you lost...Any insights or other experiences with this?

I got a free 8 week gym membership through my work. They were offering a free year membership to whoever improved their BMI the most. I lost 14 lbs. and dropped 4% body fat.

It's been my experience that just diet or exercise can take you only so far, but with both the sky's the limit.

Limiting my alcohol content has been the hardest part, especially in the summer months.

yeah like beer said, there is no shortcuts to health and fitness. Eat somewhat healthy. Regular and most important, breakfast. Skip eating late at night when you'r body get rids of less energy. Keep the three meals atleast per day, skip fast food and cut down on alcohol and exercise regulary and there should be no problem.

I workout at the gym or with running about 5 days a week.

when your body gets used to a certain "routine" , stopping that routine will get you back gaining weight fast. that's the problem with most/all diets.

the best way to work it is to maintain healthy food through out, exercise at least 2 times a week and avoid night meals, like thorns said.

I really need to get on a serious fitness kick. I have slacked off quite a bit over the last several years. I am so damn lazy though.

Try to find some substitute for it, there is many things you can eat that are way more delicious than junkfood and stil quite healthy without exaggerate it.

for example, beeries, fruit and unsalted/sugered nuts(except peanuts) instead of candy and chips.

I excersise at least 4 times a week....two days with soccer, at least one day with cycling or rollerblades and one day in the gym with weights. In the winter I ski. I have cut down on carbs. I don't eat potatoes, rice or pasta to the dinner anymore and more white meat, fish, chicken and vegetables. I started that diet a couple of days agos so i haven't checked if I have lost some weight, but I have lost 7 kilos since last X-mas. My goal is to loose another 10 to 15 kilos....

Routine is very important in these situations I agree with previous posts. You have to balance these things, taking something in excess or doing something excess will result in something growing/decreasing in excess.

I don't really go to the gym, though I have a membership but I make it a routine to play football atleast twice a week, go for a jog and do press-ups/sit-ups at home regularly. I find this keeps me feeling healthy and fit, and I also do not majorly alter what I eat. If I do eat too many bits of junk one week then the next week it'll be more salads but after that it will be a balance again. I have had no problems with my cholesterol, have visited the doctor once in the last 5 years for a bad case of flu, my dad measures his own blood pressure so I check mine occasionally and it is always fine. And my BMI is good too so I don't worry about my health because all things to me indicate I'm fine. You need to understand your own body I think this helps.
