Blackmore's Night Empty

Any fans of this different thing Blackmore did?

Blackmore’s Night is an English Renaissance-inspired medieval folk rock band led by UK guitarist M Ritchie Blackmore (electric and acoustic guitars) and M Candice Night (lyricist and lead vocals).

The origins of the band lie in 1990 when Candice was working at a local New York rock music radio station, and as part of her work first encountered Ritchie (now ex-M Deep Purple/M Rainbow guitarist), then with M Deep Purple, at a soccer game he was playing in. The two became romantically entwined and discovered that they shared a passionate interest in the Renaissance.

After leaving Deep Purple in 1993 and recording an album as Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow called Stranger in Us All in 1995, on which Candice contributed backing vocals, Ritchie became interested in the idea of bringing Renaissance music to a contemporary audience. The effervescent personality of Candice and her singing talent made her the natural choice as “frontman”. In 1997 the pair were ready to launch the band, the name being a pun of their own names, and which would consist of themselves plus session musicians.

They have some real beutiful tunes.

Some nice tunes here. Under A Violet Moon among those. I may have been a little more enthusiastic about this if this was some kind of side project to Rainbow or something, but Ritchie seems to have left the hard rocking stage for good...

I actually have no problem enjoying this at all. I like folk music and really anjoy Blackmores nice acoustical work and Canice's voice is absolutely beautiful.

The whole under a violent moon is a really good album and shadow of the moon is probably my favourite.

I have only heard Ghost Of A Rose but I love that album, though I've always been into this kind of folkish stuff.
