My favourite black metal horde. I liked other black metal bands, like Immortal, the Covenant, or Darkthrone, but the Emperor is my BM love.
I listen mostly their first two cd's, but their later works, were also good piece of metal.
What do you think about them?

I only have their "best of" and their two latest cd's, but they are really good. Also Ihsahn his solo work is great. I especially like the parts when Emperor plays two different brilliant riffs at the same time.

I've got In the Nightside Eclipse. Really a great album!

I have their two-disc compilation only, Scattered Ashes: A Decade of Emperial Wrath. It's pretty damn good. It has all the good songs they've done plus rarities and stuff.

In the Nightshade Eclipse is trully a great album, but I had to listen it a few times more than the others to realise how genius masterpiece is it Very Happy

I only hace Promethesus but thought it might be a good way of getting into them. I've been told it's a lot calmer than other Emperor albums but I haven't dipped my feet into the pool yet in terms of their other stuff.

Still, I like it a lot, a very good album.

I've only listened to In The Nightside Eclipse. What album should I go for next? Prometheus?

I'd recommend Promethesus to anyone but since that's the only album I've heard in full by them I couldn't say whether it's the next logical one to listen to or not.

I take it I should listen to The Nightside Eclipse next though? Very Happy

Emperor are probably my favourite out of the classic black metal bands, they're superb. They were pretty much the band who got me into black metal in the first place (In the Nightside Eclipse was the first I heard) actually. I hadn't listened to them in a while but last night I was working through my Emperor records and, wow!
