Yeah, crushing band! I actually did not like the songs on Whore of Betlehem; too many slow parts to me, but The Light-Devouring Darkness is amazing! Might be one of the most evil sounding BM releases. Really great work!

I still need to check them out but i'm not sure if their my style; They usually get thrown around in discussion with Beherit, who I think are garbage.

Archgoat's sound is more brutal and Death Metal influenced than Beherit's if that can help you.

Beherit for the most part is straight, sloppy death metal; I'll have to check the brutality for myself; my tastes vary with that dimension of metal.

Beherit is death metal? Are you serious? Are familiar with any of the early black metal works at all? Geeez... anyway..

I got to know Archgoat around Whore of Betlehem. Didn't really like the sound at the time. Some songs were really good like Desecration. But when the new album came out, I was quite impressed. Darker sound than ever! Vocals were truly like from the deepest depths of Hell! And I like the mid-tempo they use now. Gives the songs nearly hypnotic-like feeling. I cannot wait untill October when I am seeing them live along with Blasphemy. It shall be a night of insanity.

I like all their releases, but I think that for a change - their newest is probably their strongest. It's certainly their most varied in terms of songwriting and influences.
