Not entirely sure they count fully as Doom metal, but if Boris is here than well...

Kyuss (pronounced "KAI-us") is the corner stone of the genre known to many as stoner rock or desert rock. Although derivative of 70s hard rock, Kyuss also managed to sound unique. Primarily this was because guitarist Josh Homme often tuned to a low C, a major third below standard pitch, and also due to singer John Garcia's paint stripping vocals.
The band was originally formed in 1989 in Palm Desert, California under the name "Sons of Kyuss". They took the name from a monster in Dungeons and Dragons. Shortly after the release of their self-titled EP, the name was shortened to just Kyuss.

My favorite band ! Love everything from them and all fellow Bands .... And Sky Valley is really a masterpiece I think they weren't much doom but some tracks like Into the Void , their Black Sabbath Cover , got massive doom riffs and so i think they fit in here

Once again, a band I always considered Stoner Rock, but definite early Doom influences. I always liked their album "...And The Circus Leaves Town" but "Sky Valley" is an excellent one too.

Really nice band, but I agree with GodMachine on the genre-aspect but who cares?

Got some albums from a friend some time ago, but never really listened to them. I think I have to now.

I was obssessed with Kyuss for years, Welcome to Sky City is brilliant, especially at top volume.

been into them for a pretty long time. Blues for the Red Sun is just probably my favorite mainly due to the fact it was the first one I listened to. Welcome to Sky Valley is a tie though.

My first was ...And the Circus Leaves Town, that is just behind Sky Valley as far as number of listens go. The only way to appreciate Kyuss is to have them at full volume on the stereo, otherwise they just don't sound as powerful.

If it's too loud, you're too old. :afro2:

If you've never driven while blasting Welcome To Sky Valley, then you've never lived!

I got Blues For the Red Sun after I was told I sound like what's-his-face the singer. Maybe that's why I don't like them.

Here's a video from the concert in Stockholm that I attended to. I have not recorded it though but it's some very good quality actually
