| Tristania is a Norwegian gothic metal band that in the past had a more raw sound than nowadays, but they always sound dark and melancholic. They use the angelic female voices and harsh male vocals style, but also add some deep male gothic vocals. They use keyboards and piano, but don't use it to sound symphonic. Some songs also have nice emotional violin parts. I like all of their albums, but I wonder how they will sound in the future with their new female vocalist. http://www.myspace.com/tristania |

| I've listened too them. Oddly enough it was one of the first 'metal' bands I tried. I seen them on an online forum, and after listening simply said "No." but after months of listening to other metal I ofcourse thought of this band again and tried them. They're ok, I can listen too them, but rarely do. |

| The early material (first 3 albums) was OK, if nothing out of the ordinary, think a slightly heavier Nightwish to be fair. The later stuff was dross, and the "talent" went off to form Sirenia, who released two albums that were similar to Tristania, before becoming an Evanescence clone.
They're OK but I wouldn't rush across the street to see them in concert, and they were pretty good at Graspop in the late 90's. |

| A damn good band, but their older stuff is better, in my opinion. There is just something about their earlier material that is unique and interesting.
And heavier Nightwish? No. Gothic metal and power metal are quite different. |

| Widow's Weeds is my fave by them. It's slightly heavier and darker than the rest of their albums. World Of Glass is a good second... | |

I really enjoy this album. Never really got into them before. And the new vocalist lineup is kickass live, with the new (ex-Green Carnation) guys as well as the new female vocalist. | |
