City of Lost Souls is probably Seven Witches best album.

Jack Frost is a great PM vocalist.

Power Quest just went through a radical line-up change. It's cool that one of the guitarists is around 17 years old, considering that's my age.

I guess you mean Jack Frost is a great guitar player. I prefer the albums James Rivera sings on. One of my favorite metal screamers of all time. Alan Tecchio did a good job on Amped as well.

Few years ago I listened a lot Power Metal, too much I think... But I'm still listening PM, not just as crazy as I did few years before.. And I think during last months I've started to listen Power Metal a bit more again, big thanks to Cain's Offering's awesome debut album!

My favourite Power Metal bands are Helloween, Gamma Ray, Kiuas, if it is even counted as Power Metal, Stratovarius, Thunderstone, Blind Guardian and Rhapsody's old albums (not surprising list, eh?)

However, from less known bands I'd recommend Dreamtale, Celesty, Heavy Metal Perse, Lord Byron, Cryonic Temple, Rising Faith, Highland Glory, Burning Point... There are thousands of them Very Happy

Power Metal listeners will have a new Xmas in next January when Gamma Ray and Freedom Call will release their albums. Expectations are on high about Gamma Ray, but about Freedom Call I don't know... They have always got the skill to write very catchy tracks, but they definitely need to get a new singer. Christian Bay sounds so boring

No Judas Priest?!?

In my opinion power metal is a very cheesy subgenre, especially all the DnD/epic/fantasy/cliché stuff. Eventhough I find it enjoyable from time to time (eg. Primal Fear, Brainstorm, Wolf). Also lots of classic heavy metal bands (Judas Priest, Dio, Accept, just to name a few) border on the genre.

There is a Priest thread ofcourse.

Yeah i agree with you, power metal in the 80's was really good.
And Wolf is more heavy metal if you ask me.

fuck I am on a big power metal kick at the moment. At Vance, Silverlane, Dark Moor, Kamelot, Celesty, Firewind, Freedom Call, Kaledon, Nightwish, Epica, and more are all hitting my playlist hard lately.

Try this band, very impressive. Only like 15 listeners on last.fm. Their album seems to me like another of those lost, completely unknown but quality gems.

The new album by Twisted Tower Dire is out: Make It Dark.

I'll make a thread about them when I got time....
