Starting to not like the album and I agree with Thorns it is close to being their worst album.

I haven't heard it yet, but are you guys classifying it as worst Dickenson album or worst overall? 'Cuz nothing could be worse than Virtual XI.

Virtual XI was way better than No Prayer For the Dying and just as good as Fear Of the Dark...still...their three weakest so far imo. Hopefully got the new one in the mail tomorrow...you'll get my opinion on the new one during the weekend I guess....

I know it took months for A Matter of Life and Death to finally click, I like that album quite a lot now.

The new album is good.. but pretty difficult one, I guess it needs a million more listenings 'till it opens to me.

Gotta admit, the title track would be crap if it weren't for the guitar solo, but "El Dorado" was a good song. Still, as Voggis said ,I won't pass judgment until I've thoroughly listened to it.

After listening to it almost 10 times now, I'll say it's their best one since Seventh Son. I don't know if this is meant to be a concept album, but somehow it's seems like the song sequencing is very important here. I think it suits a "album" listener like me as all songs seems to be connected to the one before and after in a way. Take El Dorado for example...how the title track go right into it followed by Mother Of Mercy. Brilliant!! Before the album was released I thought El Dorado was OK, but put in it's right place on the album makes it huge. A true classic...and there's a few more that I consider as classics already...Isle Of Avalon and The Man Who Would Be King.
I'm more concerned how the song they will play on the concerts from this album will fit in with their older songs....but I guess they have figured some genius plans about that already

The Final Frontier was the first Maiden album to top the album charts here in Norway. It's been on the 1. spot for three weeks now. And the album? Really amazing...it's one of those albums you can listen to 100 times and still hear new things here and there you haven't noticed before....

Well I wouldn't say that this is their worst album to date. It's not all that bad, but it just isn't Maiden, it's just too progressive for an Iron Maiden album. Also, aside from the title track, the whole Sci-fi theme of the album is very misleading in my opinion

You don't think Seventh Son was overly Progressive? Considered by many to be their best album.

Some of the songs on the new one would have fitted in on Seventh Son as well, imo...

Well i'm convinced after about 5-6 listens through the album. Starting to think that it's brilliant. Not their best for far but still really good.

The more I listen to "The Final Frontier", the more it grows on me. The last four tracks are the real winners of this album.

I've never liked Maiden.

They just simply don't appeal to me.

They're headlining a festival here soon and tbh I think I'll be off in search of drinks while they're on.

Sorry. :/

Soundwave? Fuck that's the only reason I'd bother going to that shitty festival (and Saxon).

honestly? of all those bands Maiden is the only one you would want to watch?

I was going to call this year's Soundwave my last after fainting at the last year's, and the dust factor this year... I couldn't breathe properly for days. There's a few I really want to see though so I'll have to suck it up I guess.

Theres some other bands there I would see but Iron Maiden would be the only reason I'd make the effort, they are absolutely phenomenal live.

“Steve was shouting: ‘I want him gone! I can’t stand him!’ Rod said: ‘He’s not going. Get used to it.’” – Bruce Dickinson on his first serious disagreement with Steve Harris.

It certainly wasn’t plain sailing all the way to the top, I guess.

Think I pick up this issue of Classic Rock Magazine...a big Maiden interview and two free CD's included as well...
