I can't believe there's no thread for these guys already, so here goes...

This is a Swedish death metal band that spawned a couple of demo tapes in the early 90's right when the bottom fell out of death metal. They disbanded and laid dormant for years until 2007 when they recorded their first full-length called Tales from the Tomb. The old-school brutality on this release is simply phenominal! Their second album Dead Calm Chaos released in 2008 is very good as well. Now they are working on a 3rd album due out in the fall of 2010.

Swedish death metallers EVOCATION have issued the following update:

"It's January 2010 and it's cold, dark and kinda depressive. This is the perfect conditions for us to start recording our full length #3, which is also once again going to be released by the mighty Cyclone Empire in the fall this year; we're aiming at October.

"We have 11 new tracks and right now we are finishing up our pre-recordings and we have to say that it feels really good. The sound will be more raw but it will still be as EVOCATION as one can expect — plain, raw and brutal. Some of the new songs will hit your faces with such a force that you will have trouble recovering afterwards.

"We leave 2009 with proud faces, having such a good festival summer and last but not least the mighty European tour together with CANNIBAL CORPSE, DYING FETUS and OBSCURA. All of the bands were amazing both in private as on stage. This leaves us nothing but strength and confidence for the next album and hunger for more, more and more."

EVOCATION's "Tomorrow Has No Sunrise" video can be viewed below. The clip was directed by René U Valdes (HARDCORE SUPERSTAR, AVATAR) of Greenworks and was shot at Kvarnbyn in Gothenburg on April 14.

"Tomorrow Has No Sunrise" comes off EVOCATION's latest album, "Dead Calm Chaos", which was released on October 31, 2008 via Cyclone Empire. The CD features guest appearances by Anders Björler (AT THE GATES, THE HAUNTED) and Swedish producer/multi-instrumentalist Dan Swanö (BLOODBATH, EDGE OF SANITY). The album was recorded in the band's own studio under the watchful eye of guitarist Vesa Kenttäkumpu.

EVOCATION is:

Thomas Josefsson – Vocals
Janne K. Bodén – Drums
Vesa Kenttäkumpu – Guitar
Marko Palmén – Guitar
Martin Toresson – Bass
