It is disappointing, but by no means bad. IT doesn't nearly live up to the expectations, but I do enjoy "A Horse Called Golgotha".

It's bad dude, It has no sludge sound at all. It sounds like sitty alternative music.

It's not bad, it's just not nearly as good as Red Album. Alternative isn't bad and Baroness already had alt influence in their music. It's the lack of sludge that's more disappointing.

The vocals are atrocious. By far the worst and most disappointing of 2009. Fucking band should be ashamed of themselves feeding that horseshit to their fans.

Moved this to non Metal. It's basically alternative music and does not belong in the Doom category. That is an insult to Doom metal.

Ouch, the red was fairly sludgy and this is about the band as a whole right?

Also someone remind me to make a "Why the fuck is alternative and post x a genre?" thread, when I dont have coursework to do.

Sometimes sounds like alternative, but it has some couple good riffs, It's a bit disapointing. =/

The Red Album is really good. Havent listened to the new one.

I've read an interview a while ago which said it was never their attention to please all listeners and that it was planned to go a totally different direction with the new album. They are an experimental band, get over it.

I must admit I haven't listened to the album yet, though.

i like the direction they're going. the blue record may not be as sludgey as the red album but it's still good. the production is kinda meh though lol.

It's a pre-release, that means a rip from a version of the album that was given as a sample to few people. That sample is probably still un-mastered or will still get through some changes. It is even possible that the quality was lowered on purpose.

It's probably not a pre-release. It's most likely the real thing. All of the distributors already have their stock of the album.

Doesn't matter really. It's not the production that makes this the worst shit of the year.

If you want to debate which bands don't belong in Metal categories please start another thread. If you want to discuss whether you think the new album is absolutley fucking GARBAGE or not. I won't get over shit. This band is a huge fucking disappointment and has no right being tagged fucking SLUDGE.

But their work is sludge. Less so on the new album, yes, but the majority of their work has been sludge. Bands release disappointing albums. The new Municipal Waste was disappointing, but that doesn't make them not metal.

Well personally, I found Baroness this year after seeing them live at Soundwave, fell in love, and my favourite songs are all on Blue Record. Perhaps it's the memory of hearing those particular songs live before listening to the CDs? Either way, really digging them!
