| I really have to be seeing things, NO IMMOLATION THREAD?! :wtf: Anyway, for those who don't know, Immolation was one of the several bands that helped shape the New York Death Metal (NYDM) scene, along with bands like Suffocation and Incantation. Their music is known for its technicality, speed, and atmosphere. Two albums worth checking (And the only two that I have x_x) are "Dawn of Possession" and "Failures for Gods", the latter being my favorite so far. Their most recent album is 2007's "Shadows in the Light", which I'll check out soon. On another note, imagine these guys headlining a tour with Incantation. Kickass, wouldn't you say? www.myspace.com/immolation

| Immolation is one of the most consistent death metal bands around. |

| Were one of the most consistent, I think everything after Unholy Cult was crap. Everything from the debut to Close to a World Below is pretty much 10/10 material though, so I think they've had a much better run than 99% of other bands. I'm told they're still really killer live as well! |

| Immolation are one of the greatest NYDM bands EVER. I have all of their albums. Dawn of Possession is an essential death metal record. Go get it if you don't have it. I highly suggest anyone getting into them to get DoP. It is a really killer album. The vocals are just incredible. That is real great NYDM there. | |

| A brand new IMMOLATION track, "The Purge", is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page. The song comes off the veteran New York death metallers' eighth album, "Majesty And Decay", which is scheduled for release on March 9 in North America via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was recorded Millbrook Sound Studios in New York with longtime producer Paul Orofino. Mixing duties were handled by Zack Ohren, who has previously worked with DECREPIT BIRTH, SUFFOCATION and ALL SHALL PERISH, among others.
Commented bassist/vocalist Ross Dolan: "It was a unanimous decision to choose 'The Purge' as the first song off 'Majesty And Decay' to debut to the world. It is the first song on the record and we think it really sets the tone for the rest of the album.
"'The Purge' is an extremely aggressive and angry song that really has so many elements to it, and it is the perfect opening track as well because it takes the listener through some of the many moods and feelings contained within the album. It is a very extreme song in many ways and showcases all of the classic IMMOLATION elements. Lyrically, the song takes the concept we started developing on 'World Agony' and expands upon it, taking it to the next level in a very extreme way.
"We really liked the idea behind 'World Agony' and wanted to expand upon it, so when we began the process of writing lyrics for the new record while in the studio, I had the title and a loose concept for 'The Purge' and we expanded upon it.
"'The Purge' is a condemning song that takes an ugly look at mankind and forces us to open our eyes and accept responsibility for our actions. It is a very dark song with lots of emotion that I think will grab the listener right from the opening notes."
IMMOLATION's new album contains "10 songs [plus two intros] of the strongest material we have ever written," the band said in a statement. "The new material is more violent and aggressive, with fast sections that take us to a new level of speed and intensity, while complementing the dark and sullen heavier moments. There are plenty of miserable and militant movements to please the diehard and new IMMOLATION fans alike."
"Majesty And Decay" track listing:
01. Intro 02. The Purge 03. A Token Of Malice 04. Majesty And Decay 05. Divine Code 06. In Human Form 07. A Glorious Epoch 08. Intro 09. A Thunderous Consequence 10. The Rapture of Ghosts 11. Power And Shame 12. The Comfort of Cowards
The upcoming album will be the third consecutive release featuring IMMOLATION's current lineup:
Ross Dolan - Bass, Vocals Robert Vigna - Guitars Bill Taylor - Guitars Steve Shalaty - Drums
