If you like classic-era Voivod, then you need to give these guys a listen.

Phoenix, Arizona-based futuristic thrashers VEKTOR will release their full-length debut, "Black Future", on November 17 via Heavy Artillery Records. According to a press release, the CD "is a seventy-minute epic of diabolical space metal that stimulates the senses and challenges any preconceived limits to what a metal album can be. Welcome to the future; prepare to have your brains melted."

Refusing to be pigeon-holed into any metal sub-genre, VEKTOR employs an array of intricacy, virtuosity and a wholly unique sound that sets it clearly apart from the growing legions of color-by-numbers thrash bands.

Conceived in 2004 by frontman/guitarist David DiSanto and lead shredder Erik Nelson, VEKTOR quickly forged a formidable name for itself among the Phoenix metal contingent for its unique mix of technical, speed thrash and progressive influences. Going against the grain of the Phoenix metal scene, VEKTOR created a wave of interest with its self-released CD "Demolition" (2006) and the ferocious two-track demo "Hunger for Violence" (2007).

After four years of local and regional gigging opening for such national acts as TESTAMENT, HIRAX, ICED EARTH and MUNICPAL WASTE, VEKTOR is preparing to hit the road for its first national tour alongside labelmates EXMORTUS.

I agree, Black Future is definitely the best album to come out of the new wave of thrash.

Your not wrong, hopefully some more bands will realise this and stop worshipping their forefathers. Otherwise the scene will stagnate quicker than you can say Anacrusis lol!
