I like Hammerfall's cover of "Man On The Silver Mountain" from the Holy Dio tribute, Holy Mother also did a great cover of "Holy Diver". My favourite would be Wolf's "Don't Fear The Reaper".

A whole bunch, but all I can think of now is Vader's rendition of "Raining Blood"and Melechesh's "Gyroscope"

Well, there are a lot of good covers, but 2 that impressed me for different reasons:
First Watain's rendition of Return of Darkness and Evil originally by Bathory. This cover is so special because it adds a completely different view of this classic BM track that in my opinion is much better than the original. Being the original a real good song... but this is a masterpiece that makes you jump off your chair. This cover is included in the EP / Single "Reaping Dead"
The second (and not because it's worse, but I had to chose an order) is Serpentcult's verion of [/u]Uriah Heep[/b]'s classic Rainbow Demon. Steven van Cauwenbergh adds a heaviness and sense of imminent danger with his leaden bass and the counterpoint of the beautiful voice of Michelle Nocon, one of the (if not THE) best female voices of Metal...
