- Black Breath began in 2005, playing local bars and clubs in Bellingham. They released a few demos, including a nineteen minute one of rough jams and early song ideas some of which would make it on their EP, and toured the music underground before finally recording an actual EP in 2008. In 2008 they released the Razor to Oblivion EP under their own label, Hot Mass Records.[1] The EP gained attention in the local music underground and the band signed with the Southern Lord Records, a Los Angeles based metal and hardcore punk oriented label, in October 2009. Black Breath toured across the country to support the EP, being a supporting act for Victims, Rise and Fall, and Trap Them. Southern Lord then took over the distribution of the EP, which was re-released under the new label, and Black Breath went to the east coast to record their debut album, Heavy Breathing, at GodCity Studios, owned by Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou.[2] Heavy Breathing is set to be released on March 30 under Southern Lord. Black Breath will play at Easy Street Records, a local Seattle record store, to release the album with Converge. They will then commence a North American tour all throughout May, as a supporting act for Converge. The final show posted has the band playing at the Maryland Death Fest with bands such as Obituary, Pentagram, Entombed, and Eyehategod.
