Tool is only one truly alternative band, what a wonderful vocals and sound! Bands like Slipknot, Linkin Park and other similiar to them are real big shit. Maybe yet Alice In Chains is good cuz most of people know them, but they have elements of grunge and I hate the grunge cuz that 'something' destroy my beautiful 1970s hard rock and 1980s heavy metal. - Set Abominae wrote:

maybe not emo but it is worst and you have right with that. |

You should try evertything up to Clayman imo. Especially The Jester Race and Whoracle. There you got real good melodic death metal. Nice to see a old In flames pic up on lastfm now.

| Personally, i like every In Flames album except A Sense of Purpose and Soundtrack... And even on those albums i like a couple of songs. Their old stuff if definitely the best tho, like everybody says. |

I'll pretty much second that. They went downhill after Clayman in my opinion. As for the new stuff, well.....

| Lyrics are weak as fuck.
"I've come to realize Every little glimpse, you fade I was told that I could fly When least expected, cloud connected" ... The Fuck?!
Not all hate tho. Catchy as hell. |

| I agree with most people here about how in flames turned into shit after clayman...colony was a good album...
i dont deny listening to them, but honestly i havent listened to them in a while now...a long while. i think theyre one of those bands that you like at first coz theyre catchy or whatever, but then you just forget about it....so yeah...
plus like most of melo-death bands now have either an alt-rock sound or they turned into core or some other shit...
in short...after clayman, theyre not even worth checking out.... :/ |

| Yeah the old albums are some of the best melodeath out there. Amazing melodies, and whoracle and jester race have an atmospheric you can't find on the new records.
Not a big fan of the new sounds, but hey anyway i would chold Reroute to Remain higher then any random , crappy metalcore band. Like BFMV and BMTH, that is utter shit.

Melo-death was always a weak genre to start with. I have trouble finding any 'death' in the majority of melodic dm bands. When I heard Lunar Strain for the first time, musically I couldn't hear any 'death' and the vocals, though a bit of a growl were pretty weak, 'growls' alone do not make something DM anyways. It doesn't surprise me in the slightest what they've become. |

| each to their own...personally i used to be a big fan of melo-death...but then i stopped for some reason unknown and now i prefer tech dm or brutal, old school, or anything of that sort
but i was just talking about the band in general. some people like melo-death...so yeah each to their own i guess. |

| Agree 100 % with you cheese.
I would say in flames is a good example there. They certainly have the talent but they take in a wrong direction.
