I like many of their songs. I hope their new album is as good as their debut album. Jari Mäenpää was an incredible vocalist for Ensiferum..too bad he left..

Overrated for the most part, but still great. The latest album got a little too much praise I'm thinking, but I guess it's hard to compete with the likes of "Iron" and their self-titled.

When i first started rooting around the folk metal genre one of the first bands i came across was Ensiferum, they're so fucking good that everything else i heard after in the genre just proved to disappoint because i was looking for another Ensiferum. Needless to say i love this band, one of my all time favorite metal bands for sure.

No it wasn't, because if he hadn't left Ensiferum, he wouldn't have founded Wintersun.

ensiferum are kings of folk metal for sure, but there are still a lot of bands equally to them that shouldn't be disappointing, as for my personal recommendations equilibrium and eluveitie.
great bands through and through

From Afar sounds absolutely uncreative, repetive and boring. Their first album is still their only one that's really worthwhile :/

"From Afar", the fourth album from Finnish folk metallers ENSIFERUM, has entered the official chart in the band's home country at position No. 9.
"From Afar" sold around 900 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. (Note: Internet/digital sales **ARE** included in the SoundScan totals.) The CD landed at position No. 44 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
"From Afar" was released on September 9 via Spinefarm Records. The CD was produced by Tero Kinnunen (NIGHTWISH, AMORPHIS) and Janne Joutsenniemi ('Victory Songs' producer) and was mixed by Hiili Hiilesmaa (HIM, SENTENCED, AMORPHIS).
The track listing for the album is as follows:
01. By The Dividing Stream 02. From Afar 03. Twilight Tavern 04. Heathen Throne 05. Elusive Reaches 06. Stone Cold Metal 07. Smoking Ruins 08. Tumman Virran Taa 09. The Longest Journey (Heathen Throne Part II) 10. Vandraren (limited-edition bonus track; NORDMAN cover)
Fresh off a successful stint on this year's Summer Slaughter Tour, ENSIFERUM will kick off an American headlining tour with support from Nuclear Blast recording artists HYPOCRISY and EX DEO as well as Sumerian recording artists BLACKGUARD.

The new album is amazing, Ensiferum never disappointed me, From Afar is an excellent song which is beyond expectations, the other songs are great aswell, the album isn't as good as Victory Songs but sure is a good album which should not be missed, every folk metal fan should get From Afar.
