Venom

İ can say one of the amazing NWOBHM groups and beginning black metal and also think nobody was listen music like that before.when they were first playing at 80 s. Then they lived a big staff crisis anyway after the first two album and some people can say rest of their albums are underrated but listenable. Their two masterpices are kick ass (welcome to hell and black metal).

I can only deal with so much Venom.

I've never been a fan. I'm aware of their significance, but I can't get into them. Glad they coined the phrase, I guess.

I like Venom in small doses myself.

At War with Satan is quite decent, too.

I don't know...I got a Spinal Tap vision in my head thinking of Venom.

But they were important for the whole metal genre, not only Black Metal.

I dont see the praise for Venom, they are majorly over-rated. Cronos is also the biggest ballsack to ever grace the metal genre.

This is how Venom liked to be exposed in the 80's: Thor vs. Cronos.
They were like the extreme version of Spinal Tap and they very much contributed to that image by their over-the-top interviews and photosessions.

It was great fun in the 80's, but they would have been long forgotten now if it wasn't for the black metal movement that rose in the early 90's.

I wouldn't have forgotten about them. Fucking love Venom.

Venom are great. Though I have to say I can only listen to them in relatively small doses too.

Their first three albums are my favourite, I didn't mind the odd track from the latest album (Hell) either. I thought that was a decent slab of heavy metal. Again, only really in small doses...

I really like Black Metal and Welcome to Hell. They're both cool listens.
Welcome to Hell is alright too, not as good as the previous 2 albums though.

You mean At War With Satan? That's actually my favourite Venom album, but you can't really go wrong with any of their first 3 records. All kickass.

I'm considering travelling to Norway to see Venom headline Hole in the Sky. I've wanted to see them for ages! Plus, the rest of the line up is awesome, so it'll be well worth it.

Too bad the four bands I wanted to see is spread over two nights, or else I would have considered to attending one of the days myself....

I think the Thursday, Friday and Saturday are all pretty great. I think I'll only be able to afford tickets for the Friday/Saturday though...

Venom, Cathedral, Angel Witch and Enforcer. Actually I find it a little odd that Enforcer is on the bill, being the only power metal band there among all those death, doom, and black metal bands....

Yeah, it is a little odd... Good band though! I mainly want to seee Venom, Angel Witch, Cathedral, Ihsahn and The Devil's Blood. I'd enjoy Watain, Obituary and Triptykon as well. So it'd be well worth it for me. Someone in Bergen has offered to let me crash at theirs too, so it would save me a lot of money on accommodation.

Saw them at Rockweekend, was pretty cool, not anything special though.

Venom will be out with the new album Fallen Angels later this year.

I've been listening to At War With Satan a couple of times recently. The 20 minute long title track is actually quite amazing....
