Moonspell was the first Portuquese metal band to break worldwide, bursting on the scene with the stunning
Wolfheart album, mixing doomdeath, goth-styled keyboards, and various old metal influences in 1995.
Already on their second release (Irreligious), the goth influences were brought to the fore, disappointing some hardcore fans but winning others.
They then released two albums (Sin/Pecado & The Butterfly Effect) that is viewed by most fans as disapointments.
On later albums they have tried to recapture what they did on their earlier albums, as both Darkness And Hope and 2003's The Antidote are fine albums, as good as any the band have ever done.
