A wacky slavonic folk-metal-group from möther Russia with lyrics in their native-language, I like their quite original and not so tidy sound, especially on their older albums. A great mix of basic riffs and stuff with various traditional instruments. And quite kickass vocals too.

Finally someone saw this . Everyone check this out, it's an amazing band and sadly mostly forgotten.

I get my Arkona moments. A good band but unfortunately my skill in Russian is lacking.

Vozrozhdeniye (Re-birth) is a great album, though gets a bit repetitive; take out a few songs and it would have been simply killer. Great band overall, very tight musicianship and interesting amalgamation of sounds to construct their songs.

from a technical point of view they're a professional, tight band. thematically, they feel a bit gimmicky, even though I'm sure their hearts are well into the music. still, at times they feel too much of a "themed amusement" act like Finntroll or Korpiklaani.

that said, going back to the overall picture, they have obviously grown as musicians, each album grows more complex and technical, exploring new musical colours and shades each time, experimenting with new ideas. it's a collective that doesn't rest on any laurels they've achieved, not to mention the subject matter is quite a fascinating area.
