Awesome atmospheric Pagan metal band from Finland with very a progressive song structure...

The music is diversified, eg. a 30 minutes song starts with the rushing sea and meanwhile a guy is telling a story in finnish. You don't understand anything, but it sounds so fuckin' awesome... After this 5 minutes long passage, a cruel black metal part begins, calms down and afterwards it fades to a smooth folk part...

Moonsorrow are just great... every album is different, but they never lose their style.
My recommendations are "Kivenkantaja", "Voimasta Ja Kunniasta", "Tulimyrsky" and "Suden Uni".

Imo the best pagan/viking/folk band...

And Tulimyrsky isn't even an album, it's an EP. :p
But I came to them relatively late, with Viides Luku: Hävitetty, which is still my favourite. The mouth harp is a far better instrument than their more normal accordion, and the songs, especially Tuleen Ajettu Maa, at the first time really manage to keep me interested despite their length. Didn't happen with Suden Uni, and only to a degree with Verisäkeet.

Yup. But albums don't count the minutes. IIRC Moonsorrow didn't want people to believe that two covers, one new song and two new versions of old songs are their newest album. That it is longer than their latest album doesn't matter at all for that one.

Moonsorrow - music to listen to, alone, lying down, preferably on a quiet afternoon with no disturbance, so you can drift into it and be there, in Scandinavia.................

I really like Kivenkantaja, Voimasta ja Kunniasta, and Tulimyrsky. I still haven't checked out the rest of their discography, but what I've heard so far has been amazing.

One friend of mine who's normally not into metal at all recommended me this band. I checked out Kivenkantaja and I really enjoyed the album. I liked the moodshifts from song to song and within the songs. Folkmetal at its best Horn
