The Puritan is a project of ex-Reverend frontman Albet and the members of Sinisthra. They can be easily placed into doom metal-category, though their music has a lots more deeper elements including ambient, experimental, noise, neofolk and so on and so on. At first they released two minialbums, S/T and The Black Law only on vinyl, and then they both got released as a double-cd entitled Lithium Gates. Very massive, very beautiful and very, very disturbing.

I really should give Lithium Gates more spins. The Puritan is an outstanding effort... the guitars have a Sunn like sound and the music has an obvious Reverend Bizarre feel but way, way darker.

Wow, this Lithium Gates album is so fucking good I can't believe I have neglected it for so long.
Some really nice melancholy Doom.
