The shape of punk to come could have been re titled "the shape of hardcore to come" and been dead on. I feel it was the last great album that could truly be described as punk. There's been many good albums that could be described as punk or hardcore after but I dare say few really are "punk" any more. Anyway I digress, they built a buzz with some solid releases then created this monster, disbanding as it said after a single tour, and cementing their legacy.
This album is one that I find, appeals to every metal fan with a vaguely open mind. It's heavy and powerful and while there's heavy political overtones and also warnings to punk that it needs to keep changing or die (ignored but true) it's basically just a great album.
Or am I the only one who feels that way?
