Katatonia

Katatonia are a gothic/doom band from Sweden. they started as a death/doom band and moved on to a more gothic sound.

I have Brave Murder Day which is a fantastic death/doom album imo.

I have a love- hate feeling for Katatonia. I love a couple of their albums and I absolutely hate a couple of their albums.

Can't get enough Katatonia. Started listening to them over the past year or two and became completely addicted to both their old and newer sounds. Top two for me are The Last Fair Deal Gone Down and their debut.

I dont usually like slow stuff, and specially gothic stuff, but this one is one of the exceptions...it aint bad at all.

Brave Murder Day is one of my beloved albums of all times. I love the atmosphere and sadness of this album. It has no bad moments on it! But, of course Katatonia is not only this cd.
Their debut album Dance Of December Souls is also very good, solid release and I really like their first non-death/doom metal work called "Discouraged Ones" because while they changed the vocal style, the sadness known from Brave Murder Day remained. All their later works are also good, but they're not even close to the first 3 cd's

I agree, Brave Murder Day is one of my favorite death/doom albums! I never get tired of listening to it!

BTW, nice name, Sephiroth.... my favorite game villain ever!

I think Dance of December Souls are one the best crafted albums ever.

Only have Tonight's Decision and its ok but not amazingly good. Not really my style of music.

Their later works are more like depressive rock. I love Katatonia. I love all their albums. And Brave Murder Day owns. You gotta see who did the vocals

Dance of December Souls is the absolutely best album and on second please comes Brave Murder Day. I don't mind the new stuff but oh how I wished they did music like in the good old days

New album ‘Night Is the New Day’ will be released on October 19th (US – October 27th) on Peaceville Records.

In later years they unfortunately pulled a Paradise Lost. But like PL Katatonias early releases are absolut must-haves, no discussion.

Brutally heavy and incredibly melodic at the same time. This album promises to be a great one.

Mikael Åkerfeldt really likes the new album. I listened to the free track. Heavy, lots of singing, okay but not special.

This band hasn't made a listenable album in 10 years. I have no hope for the new one. If the new song is any indication of how the album will be then we'll be in for another fuckfest.

Yes, it is different but stil good, a change of style doesn't have to be bad. And for me this is well done.


Even though old Katatonia is a million times better.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and won't judge until this fuckfest gets released.

New Album is really weak.

I actually like Night is the New Day quite a lot
I guess I'm one of the few who like how they've evolved over the years.
