| Watain is killer. I really got into them with "Sworn to the Dark" but "Casus Luciferi" is excellent as well. I probably listen to CL more anyway. I've had their debut for sometime now but really haven't gotten into it yet. |

I think remastering Casus Luciferi was a great idea, though I am usually no fan of remastered editions. It sounds so powerful now and I especially enjoy "Devil´s Blood"playing loud ... |

| Yeah the original version sounded like utter shit, I like that description "powerful" because that is exactly how it sounds. |

| Watain is a Swedish black metal pride and their gigs are really good I recommend to all who want access to modern black metal. |

| I really dig Watain´s music, all 3 CD´s are top stuff. Especially now with first 2 of them being remastered. But their interviews are most often "painfully" ridiculous. So, I hope this is just some BM posing to "impress" new listeners and not things they really mean and practice, though I could imagine myself them practicing some weird stuff... |

| So, anyone else here like the "Go fuck your jewish "God"" demo? Such radical BM against everything! Great stuff, too bad they ended up making pop BM for hipsters or whoever likes their stuff. |

| The new album is good, but just that sworn to the dark was amazing but lawless darkness is kind of weak, it has amazing music and the lirycs are good, but they have gone a little comercial with this one, anyway its a good choice if you´re looking for some "modern" black metal | |

| Watain was one of these cases that I got completely overwhelmed by the sound. The first thing that I heard was the Reaping Dead EP (Metal archives show it as single) I was immediately impressed: These guys actually put _structure_ in BM songs! and Heavy Metal riffs!!!
I must say that I like 'progressive' and 'unstructured' BM, like Wolfes in the Throne Room, but while this type of BM is music to relax, think and read a good book, Watain is a shot of raw energy that kicks your balls and puts you in killer mode.
Just listen to the Bathory cover "Return of Darkness and Evil" to know what I'm talking about: While Bathory's version is a blast of powerful chaos, Watain makes a real Heavy Metal song of it, with riffs, defined chorelines and _guitars_, and all that without loosing power or ceasing to be pure Black Metal.
As a final note: I have just started getting seriously into Black Metal and blackened DM, for most of my life I have been into thrash and doom metal. Watain and the fast paced "heavy" BM was therefore a whole surprise for me. | |
