Obscura was founded in 2002 by Steffen Kummerer. The band was named after the Gorguts album Obscura [1]. In 2006 Obscura self-released their debut album Retribution and toured alongside Suffocation within Europe. A European headlining tour through East and South Europe followed in 2007. Later that year, drummer Hannes Grossmann (ex-Necrophagist) and bassist Jeroen Paul Thesseling (ex-Pestilence) were added as new permanent members [2]. My opinion is probably not that valid since im not a musician and fail to recognize good musicianship.. I think this music is garbage unfortunately. Bunch of quasi scene fellows attempting to play metal but failing to recognize that wanking on your guitar and singing about reptilian overlords may not always grant acceptance into the underground metal community. I hate bringing this point up too but i was totally lost on this band when i saw some salon straightened, skin-tight jean, nike high top, basketball hat FUCK wearing an Obscura shirt, he was a pussy too. Im shallow and ingnorant, oh well.
