First metal band you ever heard?

Thought this would be a fun topic

It's easy just post the first metal band you ever heard or the first that got you into listening to this genre.

I got into metal pretty late cause it wasn't those traditional bands that first got me into metal. For me it was a combination of Sonata Arctica and In Flames which I'm grateful that it's because of those bands that I listen to metal today but I don't listen to them anymore because I can't stand them now except some of the old In Flames albums, which are classics ofc

I bought the ...and Justice for All album because I thought the cover looked cool. Been a metal fan ever since.

Judas Priest- Screaming For Vengeance..My Uncle played it for me and my head almost fell off...That was is for me...

The first metal/hard rock bands I got into was back in the cold and rainy summer of '81. My father borrowed a pile of cassettes from my uncle. Among them a couple of albums by Black Sabbath, Deep Purple. Kiss, Thin Lizzy, Rainbow and Nazareth.
I have always considered Burn and In Rock by Deep Purple as the albums that really got me into this kind of music. Back then I only liked just a few song by each band, but those two albums was played front to back the whole summer. I remember how I reacted on the starting riff of the Burn song the first time I heard it. Still got goosebumps when I listen to that song.

I think I stuck with those bands until 1984 or something when heavy metal was starting picking up airplay on the radio (Swedish ones as I lived near the border). It was this guy Pär Fontander who used to play like three or four songs by "metal" bands as a part of a show. It was here I first heard bands like Accept, Priest, Maiden, Metal Church and Metallica. He eventually got his own 45 minute metal show called RockBox and it became my most important place to discover new bands for years.

hmmmm first metal band... i guess if rob zombie counts then rob zombie... was searching my dads music collection and that caught my eye...
but if rob zombie doesnt count then the year after that i was going through my uncles cassette tapes... i was prob 10 years old at the time and black sabbath paranoid was one of them. that one really caught my eye, i kinda stayed in the classic rock area of like pink floyd and such for a while til about 14 when i started listening to rammstein and tool then system of a down. eventually my cousin started listening to nu-metal with bands like korn and slipknot... i liked the heavier sound but it didnt really sit well with me. bout a year after that i got the soundtrack for the texas chainsaw massacre the remake in 2003. it had meshuggah, morbid angel and lamb of god... i instantly fell in love with the harsh vocals and the raw and chainsaw like guitars. after that i started looking online to expand my musical horizons and ive been a major metalhead ever since.

Mine was Gamma Ray, Land of the Free I. My sis played it untill i loved it. It's still one of my fav albums.

Ahhh yes, Poison. I remember playing "Open Up and Say Ahhh" on my cassette deck player while playing Double Dragon on my Nintendo!!
