King Kobra is a hard rock band from USA formed in the early 80's by drummer Carmine Appice (Rod Stewart, Cactus, Ozzy Osbourne).
They released three full lengths in the 80's and got minor hits with songs like Hunger (from
Ready To Strike) and the title song from the movie Iron Eagle (from
Thrill Of A Lifetime).
After Thrill Of A Lifetime the bass player Johnny Rod left the band to join W.A.S.P.
At the time when the third album, simply called
III, was released only Appice and guitar player Michael-Phillips was the only original members left in the band. Poor sales eventually resulted in the dissolution of the band.
In 2010 the original line-up reformed, minus Mark Free (who's more known as Marcie Free nowadays
, well...you figure it out
).
Paul Shortino (Rough Cutt, Quiet Riot) is now the singer of the band and in April their self titled fourth album will be released.
They recently recorded and released a tribute song for Ronnie James Dio where proceeds from the track will be donated to Ronnie James Dio's Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund.
