| Man, what to say? what to say? Gothic Metal has gotten to be the hardest genre I've ever tried getting into, man. It's a very odd genre but at the same time a pretty decent from time to time.
If you're not into it, you've gotten to work really hard to get into it. 'Build your mind around the genre' if you will. I'm very open minded towards it and it's an ok genre to listen too.
Fans? I can't really say anything more about the genre or bands in the genre, honestly. |

| Dope, if you gave power and progresive metal the same attention as you describe above, I think you would enjoy them more.
I am going to dabble in some gothic metal very soon. I have so much shit to listen to at themoment, I basically have to add some albums to my list. | |

| Probably would. I don't mind Power Metal musically it's just normally pretty cheesy, which often turns me off. Prog isn't bad just bores me pretty easily.
Goth is a very odd genre. |

| Meh... The only "Gothic" stuff I kinda like is the old non-BM "Promethean Gift" era Black Crucifixion, you know, after they went crap?... And yeh, if you can stomach "gm" you can definitely get into the good genres... |

| Gothic-Black is pretty good. Mid Theatres des Vampires, Vampiria, Early Cradle of Filth, Later Rotting Christ ar pretty enjoyable. Imo, bm>>>> dm>> gm > pm |

| I like gothic metal alot. Where most other metal genres bored me within a few years, I like gothic metal as much as when I started to listen to it 10 years ago. It is a hard genre to label because about a lot of bands you can debate if they are gothic metal or not. Like the band band Epica. Some say they play gothic metal, others say symphonic metal and in this forum they are placed in the power metal section. Also some bands started out as gothic metal like After Forever, but the last albums didn't really sound like gothic metal. But a band like Tiamat didn't sound like gothic metal at all when they started, but now they do. The last couple of years didn't really hear new original gothic metal, at least I didn't hear any. But in general I think the genre has a lot more variety than other metal genres. Maybe that's why a lot of gothic metal bands are also categorized as many other metal genres. |
